BROADWAY BOUND IS PROUD TO PRESENT
"WELCOME TO AMERICA"
“Welcome to America” tells the story of the immigrant worker and their daily struggle to capture a piece of the “American Dream.” Our show is loosely based on the events that took place at the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory in 1910 - just months before the building’s tragic fire that claimed the lives of 145 garment workers… mostly immigrants and mostly women. It chronicles the beginning of their fight for equality, representation, and basic human rights as they find themselves in a reality that it is quite different from the dream they travelled so far to find. Desperate to carve out a better life for themselves and future generations the workers talk of Unionization and are met with staunch opposition from industry leaders who were content with the low wages, long hours and unsafe working conditions resulting in our stories conclusion. Armed with hope, conviction and a God-given right to have their voices heard this is their story… The Immigrant’s Story… an American Story. “Welcome to America.”
Auditions Went Terrifically Well and Acceptance Letters are in the mail! Congratulations to all!
If you still wish to audition give us a call at (973)-777-8357 to schedule a private audition. You can still view a previous performance of Welcome to America through the end of January on our YouTube channel Broadway Bound CFP.
Broadway Bound started as an idea…. a solution… an inspiration. As a parent of two children who expressed an interest in performing, we wanted to encourage their ambitions, foster their talents, and at the same time secure their childhood. As former Broadway performers, we know the risks of exposing young children to the rigors of auditioning. We also know that if those same young children ended up with the talent necessary to sustain a career, a required level of skill was mandatory.
Our own personal experience taught us that the schools in New Jersey did not offer the level of training necessary to seriously train a student in a total and comprehensive way. They focused on competitions, false eyelashes and being 5’8”. We believed other things were more important. We felt all the aspects of performing should be offered… singing, dancing, acting, and the many facets of musical theatre.
