Programs Offered at Broadway Bound

Here is a breif description of the classes we offer, what each class involves and the appropriate age levels and prices for each class.

 

“INTRODUCTION TO DANCE PROGRAM”
(Ages 3 to 6)

Our “Introduction To Dance” Program is specifically designed to provide children between three and six years of age with a strong foundation in dance and movement.  It teaches the young dancer the basic elements of movement and dance:  space and how to relate to it, both as an individual and as a member of a group; opposites and directions; some elementary positions of ballet.  Integrated with these physical concepts are the intellectual concepts of self-awareness, creative expression, imagination, teamwork, and basic body/health awareness.

(Class length is 45 minutes and the cost is $13.00 per class)

PRE – BALLET / JAZZ PROGRAM
(Ages 6 & 7)

These classes take into consideration the age and maturity of each student and broadens their physical and mental understanding of classical ballet.  Particular emphasis is placed on the primary level of ballet both at the barre and when doing floor work.  In addition, they are also introduced to the basics and differences of jazz dancing.  More combinations are introduced and the music is of a more contemporary feeling.

(Class length is 1 hour and the cost is $13.00 per class)

JAZZ  CLASSES
(Ages 8 to Adult)

 There are many different styles of Jazz here at Broadway Bound, we not only cover all styles of Jazz, but having already performed on Broadway as performers, we understand that there are many basic techniques necessary to be a good Jazz dancer.  Part of what’s important is not only knowing the basics, but also being able to incorporate one’s own “style” into the combination to the music.  We do not want every student to be a robot when it comes to performing a routine.  Students should learn correct turns, leaps, barre and floor stretching exercises, strength moves and be challenged  enough  to pick up dance combinations geared to their level of ability.  All classes are geared more to the movements and steps of  today’s music.

(Class length is 1 hr.  Cost is $13.00 per class for Jazz)
(Teen & Advanced Intermediate classes are 1-1/2 hrs.  Cost is $20.00)
(Advanced classes are 1-1/2 hrs.  Cost is $20.00)

TAP  DANCING
(Ages 8 to Adult)

                Tap dancing is unlike most other forms of dance in that a student can hear the improvement as well as see it.  Tap Dance at Broadway Bound starts with the basics:  Tap dancing terminology, correct body posture and progresses with more intricate steps based on ability.   The whole body is taught not just the feet.  Arms, body line, hands, foot turn out are all necessary for a good look and great sound.  We don’t believe in noise. . . what’s  important is proper improvement and execution.

(Class length is 1 hr.   Cost is $13.00 per class)

VOICE LESSONS
(Ages 5 to Adult)

Broadway  Bound has over 100 hundred voice students.  Learning the correct vocal techniques to improve your voice and range is our goal.  Every voice is as different as the individual trying to improve it.  Some students will take more time than others, but believe us when we say, everyone can improve their voice!  In a voice class, elements such as proper breathing technique, posture, breath control, note recognition, note values, working on songs and self confidence are just some important results to be gained.  Most people find it difficult to go from their chest to their head voice and the transition can be very awkward.  This is an important lesson to learn and we have the answers because we want EVERY student to improve.  We also do a “Vocal Showcase” during the holidays and a “Vocal Recital” at the end of the year to SHOW OFF!

(Private Voice lessons are $35.00 per ½ hr. class)
(Group Voice lessons are $18.00 per 1 hr. class)
(“Sing–A–Long” lessons are $13.00 per 45 min. class)

PIANO CLASSES
(Ages 6 to Adult)

Our highly trained Piano Instructor works from a book that students purchase and can take home with them to practice with.  All we ask is that families make an initial investment in some kind of a piano keyboard so that their children can practice at least 30 minutes each day between weekly lessons to improve their skills and develop quicker.

(Private Piano classes are 30 minutes   Cost is $30.00 per class)

ACTING  CLASSES
(Ages 8 to 11 &  12 to 17)

“To be or not to be”. . . . it’s the difference between having good acting technique and being confident or indecisive and awkward.  What is taught are the basic elements & skills such as:  cold readings, stage movement, stage terminology, monologues, improvisation, learning to focus, pantomime, space relationships on stage and so much more.  They will perform a showcase at the end of the year for family and friends. 

(Class length is 1 hr.   Cost is $15.00 per class)

MUSICAL  COMEDY  CLASSES
(Ages 8 to 11  and  12 to 16)

Only Broadway Bound offers this highly “unique” and innovative program.  Students enrolled in the musical comedy program learn: improvisation, pantomime, spacial relationships, monologues, basic dance movements, singing and work on production numbers that they might be exposed to in their local schools  or in talent shows.  For the money, this program offers the finest training in musical theater anywhere.  We have grown tremendously because of this program because it also teaches students to be involved and have fun learning skills that will help them in all walks of life.  They also gain a great deal of self motivation and self confidence in this class.

(Class length is 1hr. & 15 min.   Cost is $20.00 per class)

 

“THE BROADWAY BOUND WORKSHOP PROGRAM ”

At the beginning of each year, “AUDITIONS” are held for our famous Broadway Bound Young People’s Musical Comedy Workshop Program.  This workshop, under the direction of former Broadway performer and Producer, Maureen Kastl offers the most  comprehensive training for musical theater anywhere.  Dancing and Singing are very important since the production numbers are put together in a short amount of time.  An “original musical” is presented at the end of this 6 month program for thousands of school students and adults alike.  You must be between the ages of 12 and 20 to audition and be proficient in singing, dancing and acting.  Auditions are held early in September after registration and you must sign up (or call in) for an appointment time.  Instructions will be given at that time for those wishing to try out.  Please remember that not everyone may be qualified.  This is like an “Honors” program in school.  If you are not ready for this program, just remember that we still have others that will be best suited for you at the present time.

 

(The Workshop Program lasts for 6 Months and meets every Friday from 5:00 to 7:30 PM and Saturday’s for 2-1/2 to 3 hrs. starting in January until the show)

• All programs and classes are subject to class size and space availability.
• Some programs or classes may not be offered if less than 6 students sign up.
• If a child is not old enough to be in a certain class, it will be up to the instructor to place the student in the correct class.
• Good behavior is mandatory and discipline is essential.  Broadway Bound is not only a great place to take lessons, it is a “School of the Performing Arts.”
• There will be no refunds given for any classes or programs signed up for.
